Dear Tyrrell Families,

 

I’m excited to welcome you and your students to the 2023-24 school year.  The first day of school is August 17. 

 

Safety continues to be a priority at Tyrrell.  When students feel safe they are at their best to learn each day.  We appreciate your support of our efforts to keep Tyrrell a safe place that encourages learning.   Students are expected to wear their school uniforms everyday.  This allows our students to show their pride in their school and in themselves. We are excited to share that Tyrrell continues to be a proud, PeaceBuilder School!

 

Our teaching practices remain centered on the Common Core Standards, with a focus on the following:  establishing relationships with students and families, Student Academic Engagement (SAE) Deeper Learning Practices (DLP) and Social Emotional Learning (SEL).  The staff at Tyrrell work diligently to maximize learning opportunities while meeting the needs of all students. 

 

In order to provide the best educational experience possible for our students and maximize your child’s success, please emphasize the importance of education in the following ways:

  • Ensure that your child is getting at least ten (10) hours of sleep each night.

  • Support your child in arriving to school on time each day

  • Make sure your child is eating a healthy breakfast (either at home or at school) every morning to be alert and ready to learn each morning.

  • Communicate with your child’s teacher regularly.

  • Monitor your child’s homework.

  • Expect and encourage positive behavior and the PeaceBuilder program at Tyrrell.

  • Read with your child and encourage your child to read daily (20-30 minutes).

 

We believe communication between school and home is vital to helping our children be the best that they can be.  We publish a monthly newsletter with important information  about our school.  In addition, we share information about school events online.  Please check the following for our ongoing communication and information:

La seguridad sigue siendo una prioridad en Tyrrell. Cuando los estudiantes se sienten seguros, están en su mejor momento para aprender cada día. Agradecemos su apoyo a nuestros esfuerzos para mantener a Tyrrell como un lugar seguro que fomenta el aprendizaje.  Se espera que los estudiantes usen sus uniformes escolares todos los días. Esto permite a nuestros estudiantes mostrar su orgullo por su escuela y por ellos mismos. ¡Estamos emocionados de compartir que Tyrrell sigue siendo una escuela orgullosa de PeaceBuilder!
